Learning Blog

This was an interesting module that introduced me to technology that I had never used before.  The presentation application, Prezi, is an entirely new form of presentation to me, and I did not fully understand how it worked until I actually hunkered down to create my own.  This is an amazing tool that I can imagine using in an educational environment to engage my students and spur creativity and information sharing.

While making my Prezi Presentation, I made several mistakes and had to work through solutions to correct them.  I googled help, used Prezi help, and even stumbled around the presentation until I solved my issue.  For instance, I had a huge rectangle in the center of the page that showed during my presentation.  I ended up deleting the rectangle, and its contents, and starting the section all of again. This required major edits to the pathway, but in the end I was satisfied with the result.

It will be interesting to see how my peers have navigated through the program, and to learn about their professional backgrounds and topics of interest.  I am looking forward to this experience, and the experience of awarding badges.  This is a great incentive that works well with educational applications.

Although I enjoyed learning about Prezi, and also Second Life, I worry that the technology demands of this course may be more than I expected.  I plan to put extra time aside to learn each of the new technologies that is presented to me.  There is a fascinating virtual world out there with much to learn, and I look forward to that.

Thanks,

Mary
